Prof. warns of paralysis of life in Gaza

A Palestinian economist has renewed warning over the crippling status of living conditions in Gaza.

Professor with the al-Azhar University in Gaza Dr. Mo’in Rajab told Qudsna that the Zionist regime’s sanctions against the Gazan people risks to face the besieged enclave with a humanitarian disaster.

The university professor said Gaza suffers lack of fuel, high unemployment, lack of consuming items and lack of medicine at hospitals.

The professor said the US and Zionist regime’s plan to allow more Palestinians to work in the Israeli-controlled areas was a ruse within the framework of the so-called ‘peace talks.’

The professor added that with Israel preventing Palestinian workers from leaving Gaza for job opportunities, the levels of unemployment in the besieged area has crossed 30 percent.

The political expert denounced the new US promises to Palestinians as empty, adding that the PA-Israel talks were nothing more than a mirage.

The expert also tied the rising unemployment in Gaza with the interim Egyptian government’s practice in destroying Gaza tunnels as the lifeline of the besieged enclave.

The expert said the UN was involved in the Zionist regime’s crimes against 2 million Palestinians in Gaza for keeping silence.

Asked about the Israeli policies against the Palestinian economy, the expert said the Zionist regime seeks to turn the Palestinians into a consuming population by making them to believe that it is no longer possible to make the two ends meet by working inside the Palestinian territories and that they must leaving their own country.

The Palestinian professor wrapped up his remarks by calling on all Palestinian groups and factions to avoid differences and start talks for national reconciliation, adding that Palestinian unity was a prerequisite for developing a robust economy and standing against the Israeli blockade.
