Iran pursues ties while keeping principles

An Iranian expert in regional affairs says the Islamic Republic will pursue a foreign policy of expanding ties with the world while preserving its principles, including support to the Palestinian issue.

Mohammad Irani told Qudsna rejected the idea that the recent Iranian diplomatic overtures to the west would affect its stance in the Palestinian issue, adding it is a principle policy of the Islamic Republic to support the Palestinian issue irrespective of the nature of its relations with the west.

The expert noted that the Islamic Republic has already maintained ties with those states which keep relations with the Zionist regime, adding that Iran may at the same time keep relations with those states and support the Palestinian issue.

The expert acknowledged that Iran may be pressed or blackmailed by several pro-Israel governments to relinquish its principles foreign policy stances, adding however that no Iranian governments would overlook the principles.
