Palestinian patients call for lift of siege on Gaza
A large group of Palestinian patients staged a protest sit-in in front of the UNHCR office in Gaza, calling for the opening of the besieged enclave's border crossings, especially the Rafah crossing with Egypt.
According to QUDSNA reporter in Gaza, the sit-in was organized by the national committee against the Gaza siege.
Over 1250 patients have joined the protest sit-in.
A Palestinian activist, Abdullah Hajjar warned about the widening adverse impact of the Israeli siege on Gaza that has already been in place for the past seven years.
The activist said many patients in Gaza are in dire need of surgery or medicine to alleviate their chronic diseases.
He also said many patients lost their lives as they could not leave the Gaza for vital treatment overseas.
The activist called on the international community to press the Zionist regime to life the siege.
He also urged for the Egyptian authorities to open the Rafah crossing to Palestinian patients.
