Israel unwilling to go to war on Gaza
A Palestinian analyst believes that Israel is unlikely to stage an onslaught on Gaza as currently the strategic balance is in favor of Israel and it never likes to risk changing the balance by attacking Gaza.
Abdullah al-Hamarneh wrote in the Palestinian Today website that the Zionist regime at present enjoys a relative calm across its borders and wishes to keep the situation in place.
The analyst touched on the massive unrests in the Arab world and said the Zionist regime more prefers to see continued crises in Egypt and Syria and to keep its peace treaties with Jordan and Egypt intact.
Al-Hamarneh said that the Zionist regime has lost the international battle over Iran by failing to convince the world to take a military action against the country. “Israel realized that it must find some mechanism to keep the US support in place,” he said.
The analyst believes that the Zionist regime is currently engaged in efforts to undermine the military might of its regional foes, including Syria and Hezbollah and for the same reason, would not engage in a new war on Gaza unlike its threats.
The expert noted that Hamas has already lost two of its key allies, Iran and Syria due to its policies and a new war on Gaza may give the movement a chance to reconstruct its position.
Al-Hamarneh said the weak position of Hamas let the Fatah Movement and the Palestinian Authority to have more leeway in the political scene.
“The weak position of Hamas opened the way for a permanent deal between the PA and Israel and consequently reduced the size of anti-Israeli diplomatic pressure and security concerns,” the expert said, adding that Israel never wishes to ruin the gains by an assault on Gaza.
He said the situation on the ground has virtually put constraints on a movement in the making in the world that aimed to delegitimize Israel.
