Right of return, irrevocable

Spokesman of the Islamic Jihad movement, Davoud Shihab says the Palestinian Authority has harbored false perceptions by seeking to form an independent Palestinian state through negotiations.

The spokesman told Qudsna said the PA head Mahmoud Abbas has already granted exceptional concessions to the Zionist regime in order to keep the negotiations from reaching a deadlock.

The spokesman slammed the PA head for his recent remarks on the Palestinian right of return, adding that the Palestinian nation has laid many lives in its efforts to fulfill the right.

Abbas said last week at a meeting with 250 Israeli students in Ramallah that he was not looking "to flood Israel" with returning Palestinian refugees.

The Islamic Jihad spokesman said if Abbas budges on the right of return, nothing would remain for him to use as bargain chip in the negotiations.

The spokesman lamented that the PA negotiators have spared no effort to meet Israel's demands while the Israeli side is not ready to meet the least of the PA demands, including removal of checkpoints from the West Bank streets.

The spokesman said the Palestinian right of return was an irrevocable, non-negotiable individual and communal right, adding that the PA agreements have no credit in this regard.
