Israel failed in changing 'balance of fear'
An Iranian expert in regional affairs says Israel failed to change a 'balance of fear' in the Palestinian territories in its own favor after the Palestinian resistance countered its latest aggression on Gaza by a barrage of rockets.
Hossein Rooyvaran told Qudsna that the Zionist regime by exploiting the Hamas strained ties with Egypt attacked Gaza so that the regional balance of power that was in favor of the Palestinian resistance following the Gaza 8-day war in November 2012 would be changed in its favor, but to no avail.
The expert said the current Egyptian authorities deliberately designated Hamas as a terrorist group in coordination with Israel so that Hamas would be left alone in Gaza and Israel would find a chance to change the balance of fear in its own favor.
Islamic Jihad forces in Gaza fired at least 130 rockets at southern Israel on Wednesday in response to the Israeli killings of six Palestinian civilians Islamic Jihad forces in Gaza fired at least 90 rockets at southern Israel on Wednesday last week in response to the Israeli killings of six Palestinian civilians earlier.
Rooyvaran noted that the Islamic Jihad's rocket response to Israel showed that the movement is able to counter Israel even without Hamas or any other Palestinian group.
The surprising response "prompted Israel to pursue talks with the Islamic Jihad movement thorough Egypt and have truce restored," Rooyvaran said.
The expert noted that against certain expectations, Hamas supported the Islamic Jihad's stance, showing that the Palestinian resistance in Gaza enjoys a solid united position.
