Administrative detainees continue hunger strike

Palestinian administrative detainees have continued their hunger strike for the seventh consecutive day Tuesday protesting their detention without trial or charge.

The striking administrative detainees stressed, in a leaked letter, their determination to continue their strike till meeting all their demands, calling on the Palestinian people to support their hunger strike and their legitimate demands.

About 200 Palestinian administrative detainees have started an open-ended hunger strike on Thursday 24th April demanding an end to their administrative detention.

For his part, the detainee Ayman Atabich continues his hunger strike for 62 consecutive days, while Adel Shneith continues his hunger strike for 27 days in a row.

Meanwhile, Palestinian detainees in Negev prison complain from poor detention conditions and deliberate medical neglect.

Palestinian Prisoner Society's lawyer has visited Negev prison, where he quoted the detainee Aladdin Darawi as saying that he needs to undergo an urgent gland surgery, in addition he suffers rheumatism, stomach problems. Darawi served eight years in Israeli jails out of his 12-year sentence.

The detainee Asser Wakid, from Jenin, also suffers from severe neck pains and breathing problems, and he is in urgent need to undergo a surgery. Wakid spent 11 years out of his 13-year sentence.

The prisoner Hani Lahlouh, from Jenin, suffers for his part from severe teeth and abdominal pains. He spent 11 years in custody out of his 18-year sentence.

On the other hand, Palestinian detainees in Eshel prison complained Monday from Israeli strip search and night raid campaigns under the pretext of searching for mobile phones.
