IRI has strategic ties with Hamas

An Iranian political expert says the Islamic Republic of Iran has fundamentally adopted a strategic approach towards Hamas in that it supports the resistance groups based on its religious tenets.

Nozar Shafiee was speaking to Qudsna on a new call in the Islamic Republic for further ties with the Palestinian movement.

Member of the Iranian parliamentary commission of national security and foreign policy added that the various stances adopted by the political agents of the two sides, either the Iranian foreign ministry or the Hamas political authorities deal with the tactical side of the approach while the very stance is motivated by religious tenets.

The expert said Iran naturally has concerns about the conduct of the Hamas political bureau chief, Khaled Mashaal because he moved to shift his political stance after years of Iran support however religious tenets and common interests have already rendered Iran’s cooperation with the group sustainable.
