Israel, Saudi two sides of a coin

Iranian expert in international relations, Majid Safataj says a warming of open ties between Israel and Saudi Arabia is rooted in history.

Safataj told the Qods News Agency (Qodsna) that founder of Saudi once agreed to deliver Palestine to Jews at time when there was no Israel.

“Saudi also signaled covert ties Israel following the latter’s formation though it had never exposed them,” he said, adding the two sides had serious exchanges during the Israeli war on Lebanon in 2006 and its wars on the besieged Gaza.

“They have maintained their mutual ties in light of their common fear about a regional anti-occupation resistance front,” he said.

Safatj said Israel now seeks to expand the trend of normalization to other Muslim states while Saudi seeks to mediate the trend.

"Israel and Saudi are two sides of the same coin," he said.
