Tehran people mark anniversary of takeover of Israeli embassy

Tehran people marked the 38th anniversary of the takeover of the Israeli embassy in 1979 and its subsequent handover to Palestinians.

The marchers started to walk from the former US embassy until Palestine Square several streets farther.

Having gathered in the Palestine square, the marchers listened to speeches by deputy of parliament, Amir Khojasteh, Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement, Naser Abu Sharif and cultural deputy in the upcoming sixth international conference on Intifada, Mesiam Amroudi.

The parliamentary deputy said the Iranian people have proved their presence in any scenes to defend the innocent Palestinians.

Also, Abu Sharif thanked the people for joining the march and said “I’m grateful to you the Iranian brothers and sisters in my own capacity and as the representative of the Islamic jihad and the entire Palestinian nation.”

Then, Meisam Amroudi said the February 17 was the day when the flag of an occupier regime was taken down by the revolutionary Iranians.

He also remembered when the flag of Palestine was hoisted atop the former Israeli embassy so that Iran became a first country to recognize Palestine.

As for the conference, the authority said a union of pro-Palestinian NGOs will declare existence.

Amroudi then touched on several predictions by the late Imam Khomeini, including the collapse of the former Soviet regime and the fate of the executed Saddam, adding Imam’s prediction about the fate of Israel too will come true one day.

Meanwhile, Iranian Judo champion, Arash Miresnmaili was appreciated during the ceremony over his support to the Palestinian nation in international arenas.

Miresmaili said he took pride in refusing to face athletes from Israel in sports events.
