Palestinian captives can inspire another intifada

An Iranian expert in regional believes that the Palestinian captives have a large potential to inspire the Palestinian society against the Zionist regime.

Hussein Rouyvaran told Qudsna that under UN resolution 242, the West Bank is an occupied land and for the same reason, the individuals whom Israel detains in the area are captives however Israel claims it has detained the captives
under its own anti-terrorism law.

The expert noted that even the Zionist regime has acknowledged the sensitive issue of the captives and their potential for inspiring another intifada.

He noted that since 1967, over 800 thousand Palestinians or one fifth of the total population has been detained by Israel, making the pain of imprisonment a common pain for every Palestinian family.

Asked about the Palestinian Authority’s reaction towards the issue of captives, the expert said the authority was unable to resolve the captives’ problem since it has concluded security agreements with the Zionist regime.

He also noted that the Egyptian government may influence the issue and follow the case of the captives however the internal situation in Egypt has affected everything and put the domestic issues ahead of foreign policy.
