Western diplomatic campaign in Lebanon
Lebanon, already experiencing a new era following the June 7 parliamentary elections has witnessed a flurry of diplomatic efforts by the European countries who apparanetly seek to influence the process of cabinet formation in the country.
The European efforts were marked by visits by Steinmeier and Bernad Kouchner, foreign ministers of Germany and France as well as a campaign by British representative in the country. Though not new, the simultaneous campaign may aim to advance several goals.
At time when many countries have picked a share in the Middle East process to further their interests in the principally-Muslim area, it is natural that the European countries rush to avoid being a loser.
German, Britain and France however categorically move in the same track as the US, lacking any independent approach towards the so-called Middle East peace process. This is especially of note as Barak Obama in his 75-country Muslim project for the recognition of the fake Zionist regime has singled out Lebanon and Syria.
One more point of note is that the European representatives have admitted to the axial role of Lebanese Party Hezbollah in the process of stability and security of Lebanon by having talks with Hezbollah delegates fixed on their agenda.
Lebanon is conceived with sensitive developments and the EU's shuttle diplomacy attests to the reality.
