Hamas: Resistance until aspirations are gained

Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) declared existence in December 14, 1987 following the murdering of six Palestinian workers by a Zionist in Erez crossing who then fled the scene before the eyes of Israeli policemen standing idle-by.

Following the tragic killings, a group of Palestinians who have been calling for a campaign against the Zionist aggressions in Gaza mosques declared the movement.

Hamas from the inception in 1987 focused on comprehensive social, political and military activities and very soon turned into a leading popular movement.

The movement has already gained support from both Sunni and Shii people in the world of Islam for being an Islamic resistance movement against occupiers.

Hamas is mainly characterized as being inspired by the Islamic Revolution of Iran (1979), led by Imam Khomeini, the Great and the same characteristic still keeps the movement pinned to its ideological source, the Islamic Iran.

Imam Khomeini's anti-colonial personality has been modeled by Hamas leaders, including Khaled Mashaal who said in a meeting with IRI President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad last week that Hamas would keep resistance against the world arrogance until final victory is gained.
