Beirawi: Freedom caravans will not abandon Gaza until freedom

Gaza is where it brings Palestine back to its origins, despite all the pain and suffering that the Palestinian people have suffered in their homeland. As the siege and the Zionist crimes continue in Gaza, poverty, unemployment and lack of security keeps targeting Gazans.

The humanitarian crisis in Gaza, is one of the battlefields in the Palestinian issue, has always been a major issue for pro-Palestinian nations in the history. Similarly, in May 2018, a convoy entitled "The right of Peaceful future for Palestine" was sent to the countries of Europe and through international waters to Gaza. The caravan consisted of three ships, return, freedom and Palestine was attacked by Israeli regime navy forces.

In this regard Qods News Agency (Qodsna) prepared an interview with Zaher Beirawi the head of International committee for breaking the Siege of Gaza:

Gaza the destination of European Humanitarian Ships

Beirawi in response to a question upon the destination of freedom ships said: The caravan move was another attempt to break the blockade of Gaza and expose Israel's crimes over Palestinians. These ships were sailing towards Gaza through international waters, but were seized by the Zionists.

The convoy of the Gaza blockade included the Freedom and Return ships, which were sent to Gaza on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Nakba Day on May 15, 2018. At first, the Return ship managed her way to Gaza Strip waters, and then the Freedom Ship succeeded in doing so. But both ships were confiscated from the navy of the Zionist regime and transferred to the port of Ashdod. The Return ship carried 22 international activists from 15 countries and all of them were stopped by the Zionists just 50 miles before reaching Gaza.

He added that international activists were sent to their countries, however, we have evidence that the the Norwegian captain and his Swedish deputy were brutally beaten by the regime’s navy forces. Sue Ang, 69 an English-Singaporean writer was also been beaten.

The head of International committee for breaking the Siege of Gaza further remarked on the success of the Caravan of Freedom in conveying its message to the public opinion and the Gazans and said: “No doubt, the freedom caravans delivered their message to the Palestinian people in Gaza, their message was full of love, peace and friendship.” As international activists, we do not stop trying to break the blockade of Gaza, despite all the obstacles and challenges in this way. The Zionists cannot stop us from complying our moral and human obligations. International activists have no choice but to stand up and resist along with Palestinian people in this difficult conditions, especially Palestinian children who are surrounded in a society full of oppression and deprivation. For us, who are aware of the Palestinian issue, we will continue to strive to end the siege of two million Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, those who do not have any sins but only challenging to achieve their natural rights. In 2006, they chose their political leaders, using their legal right.

Zaher Beirawi regarding future plans to support Gaza said: We will continue to try break the Gaza blockade and we will not forfeit until we have achieved our ultimate goal we continue to resist, our struggle has two major reasons:  First, there are still occupants in Palestine, secondly, the illegal and immoral blockade of Gaza continues, and as long as the occupation and siege of Gaza exist, we will continue our efforts to change this situation. We will continue to maintain political pressure and gain public opinion’s attention to force the Zionist regime to end the siege of Gaza.

He said 90 percent of international activists who participate in support and solidarity campaigns are from Western societies. A total of 34 activists were dispatched to the Gaza Strip from the Sicilian waters, including an Arab representative an Algerian and Press TV envoy. All of these activists participated in this dynamic due to humanitarian and moral concerns because they believe in the principles of freedom and democracy and the right of the Palestinians in this arena.
