Extraordinary Session Determined New Organizational Structure of the Assembly of Organizations and Activists in Support of Palestine

Accoring to Qods News Agency (Qodsna) an extraordinary session was convened with the presence of members of the Assembly of Non-Governmental Organizations and activists supporting the liberation of al-Quds al-Sharif. The session was due to elect the new chairman and members of the Executive Committee. The session was convened on May 5, 2020 evening at the Secretariat of the International Conference in Support of the Intifada and al-Quds. Following to the session, Hossein Amir Abdollahian special envoy of the speaker of Iranian Parliament was elected as the new chairman of the assembly. The former chairman was the late Hossein Sheikh al-Islam a politician and a revolutionary figure.

According to the report, in the first extraordinary meeting, which was held virtually with the presence of the majority of members of the Assembly of Non-Governmental Organizations and activists supporting the liberation of al-Quds, Dr. Amir Abdullahian was elected as the third chairman of the assembly for two years.

Beofre the corona Virus Outbreak, Hossein Sheikh al-Islam, a pro-Palestinian activist and supporter of the Palestinian Islamic Resistance, chaired the meeting of NGOs and pro-freedom activists of al-Quds, later he died of coronavirus virus infection.

According to the report, in addition to electing a new chairman of the assembly, the new members of the executive committee was determined such as follows: Dr. Forouz Rajaeifar, Dr. Hossein Royaran, Dr. Ahmad Soroushnejad, Mehdi Shakibaei, Yazdan Karimi, Morteza Mostafavi and Zahra, respectively. Habibi was elected as the main members and Hamid Zali and Maryam Ramadan were elected as the alternate members of the Executive Committee of the Assembly of Non-Governmental Organizations and activists supporting the liberation of Quds Sharif.

Earlier, Dr. Ahmad Soroushnejad was also elected as the secretary of the assembly by the members of the assembly, which remained with the approval of the central council.

Also, immediately after the virtual meeting, the first meeting of the new executive committee with the new chairman of the assembly was held with the aim of examining the strategies for reactivating the assembly and explaining the proposed programs for the Internal al-Quds Day anniversary. Prior to the event, a video clip on how Palestinians and international activists worked to support the Palestinian cause was presented.

Following to the session, the process of updating the statute of the assembly with the approach of activating all its pillars and attracting new members, determining the limits and powers of the executive committee in the new period of activity, examining the possibility of attracting funds, reviewing the establishment of the financial fund Which was discussed by the members.

According to the upcoming anniversary of the International al-Quds Day, in an extraordinary meeting, the members are scheduled to present practical and applicable suggestions for the the International al-Quds Day.

Following to the session, Dr. Hossein Amir Abdullahian's membership ceremony was held at the Assembly of Non-Governmental Organizations and activists supporting the liberation of al-Quds, and he officially became a member of this non-governmental organization.

The Assembly of Non-Governmental Organizations and Activists in Support of the Freedom of al-Quds was stablished in 2006 with the aim of following the supportive strategies of the supreme leader to support and help the liberation of Palestine. The assembly began work, composed of non-governmental organizations and individuals active in the fields of freedom of Palestine, supporting the resistance forces and the struggle against Zionist occupation.
