Israel’s genocide in Gaza: ‘worst ever conflict for reporters’
2024 was the single deadliest year yet for journalists, with Israeli forces responsible for the killing of nearly 70% of all journalists, according to the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ).
This graph, is a comparative analysis of the estimated number of journalists and media personnel who have been killed in different war zones across the world over the years - including World Wars 1 and 2 - and in Gaza since 7 October 2023. While 230 journalists were killed in Iraq over a 7 year period, in Gaza that martyr toll has been surpassed in less than 2 years.
