let us pursue Iran, US negotiations based on nat’l interests & honorably

Tehran (Qods News Agency)- The first round of indirect negotiations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States took place on Saturday in Muscat, Oman and Iran entered the negotiations with an experience of doubt and pessimism resulting from the other party's reneging on its promises that it showed in the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) negotiations in Vienna.

Mediated by Omani Foreign Minister Badr Al Busaidi, the talks were led from the Iranian side by Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi and from the American side by US envoy Steve Witkoff.

Iran and the U.S. said they held "positive" and "constructive" talks in Oman on Saturday and both sides agreed to reconvene next week.

A few points indicate a good start for the Iranian side in these negotiations:

1) The Iranian negotiating team and its’ think tank, knowing that one of their past mistakes was defeat in the war of narratives, performed very well this time. The media team, together with the negotiating group, were the frontrunners in presenting the first narrative and acted very actively and accurately before, during, and after the negotiations.

2) The American side made great efforts to allow journalists to enter the negotiations venue to transmit their narratives and lies from the negotiation venue to the world and could cut off Iran's voice from the negotiations by creating a media frenzy. The Iranian team decisively and intelligently rejected the media's request to be present at the negotiations venue and thwarted the enemy plan that took the initiative from Iran in the JCPOA negotiations.

3) From the successful experience of “Field-diplomacy coordination” in the past, Iran has reached the valuable experience of coordinating the “field, diplomacy, and media” in these negotiations, which is much more important and vital.

At the present time, when the balance of the negotiations is in favor of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the national unity and integrity of all members of society, avoidance of internal disputes, vigilance against the enemy's conspiracies, and the necessity of a visionary view against the enemy's cognitive war, which has been repeatedly emphasized by the Supreme Leader of the Revolution Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei, are among the obligations and necessities.  

Today, the country needs unity with empathy, strength with courage and unquestioning obedience to the leadership's commands so that we can pass this historical turning point with strength.

An advice addressed to the Iranian authorities and the media:

Let's not forget that United States is the same enemy that has 46 years of malignancy, deceit, and breach of promise against the Iranian people in its record, and this issue requires the negotiating team and the media to publish the results of these indirect negotiations in a very logical and emotionless manner.

Let us remember that the sign of success in negotiations with a treacherous enemy is the retrieve for all mischief, breach of promise, the lifting of all oppressive sanctions, and the change of the past. Until the rights of the Iranian people are restored to them, nothing special has happened, and any exaggeration of the progress of the negotiations is illogical.

As the bottom line, it will be noted that the only reason for the progress and strength of the Islamic Republic of Iran in these 46 years is solely due to trust in God Almighty, the blessing of the blood of martyrs, reliance on the youth of the homeland, and domestic efforts, not negotiations with the Western world. By understanding this, we should not repeat the mistake of the JCPOA and tie everything in the country, even drinking water, to these negotiations. The idea that all the country's problems will be resolved overnight and with one negotiation is an unreasonable expectation.
