Zionists forces 10 families to displace from Nur Shams refugee camp

Zionist regime’s occupation forces continue their aggression on the city of Tulkarem and its refugee camp for the 84th consecutive day, and for the 71st day on Nur Shams camp, on Sunday amid a military escalation involving raids, assaults, evacuations, and forced displacement.

According to the media committee in Tulkarem, the Zionist regime’s troops forced around 10 families from the Jabal al-Nasr area in Nur Shams camp and the western part of the camp to evacuate their homes by force and threatened other families with eviction. The camp witnessed heavy gunfire, the storming of dozens of homes, and the vandalization of several citizens’ vehicles.

In a press statement on Sunday, the committee said that a massive explosion occurred early this morning in Tulkarem camp, followed by thick plumes of smoke, amid a siege imposed by the Zionist regime on the camp, which has become nearly empty of residents who were forcibly displaced from their homes.

The committee noted that Zionist regime’s bulldozers carried out excavation operations on the completely destroyed streets inside the camp and blocked its western entrance with earth mounds. Meanwhile, Zionist regime’s troops continue to be deployed in various neighborhoods of the camp, seizing homes and closing many entrances with barbed wire.

It added that occupation forces intensified their presence in the city of Tulkarem, firing sound bombs heavily at vehicles and civilians. They pursued young men around Jamal Abdel Nasser Square and arrested one of them. The forces also raided a number of commercial shops, subjecting those inside to field interrogation in the eastern neighborhood of the city.

The incursions also extended to the Dhinnaba suburb and the Salam neighborhood in the east of the city, where the occupation army stormed several homes and conducted wide-scale searches and interrogations. At the same time, the IOF continues to seize homes and residential buildings on Nablus Street and the adjacent northern neighborhood, turning them into military barracks after forcing residents to evacuate by force.

The Zionist regime’s ongoing aggression and escalation in Tulkarem city and its camps have led to the martyrdom of 13 citizens, including a child and two women — one of whom was eight months pregnant — in addition to the injury and arrest of dozens. More than 4,000 families have been displaced from Tulkarem and Nur Shams camps, along with hundreds of residents from the city’s northern neighborhood after their homes were seized and some turned into military posts.

The aggression has caused massive destruction to infrastructure, homes, commercial shops, and vehicles, which have been completely or partially destroyed, burned, vandalized, looted, and stolen. A total of 396 homes were completely destroyed and 2,573 partially damaged in Tulkarem and Nur Shams camps. Their entrances and alleys have also been blocked with earth mounds.
