Hebrew U professors try to oust president
Senior academic staffs at Hebrew University in the occupied Beit Ul Moqaddas have decided to try to oust the university’s president, professor Menachem Magidor.
The decision was made after Magidor said he would support a petition to the National Labor Court asking the court to order striking lecturers to return to work.
Magidor told reporters that if the senior staff called for his dismissal, he would quit. “I have no intention of holding on to my position if the senior staff do not support me,” he said.
Senior lecturers have been on strike for several weeks, and university presidents have warned that the semester will have to be cancelled if the strike does not end within the next several days.
Junior staffs have decided to join the professors’ strike for a day, and all Hebrew University classes cancelled on Wednesday between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
