Abbas in dark over US quit of resolution

Palestinian Authority chief Mahmoud Abbas said Saturday he was not informed by American officials that they planned to withdraw a proposed United Nations (UN) resolution endorsing the joint declaration made by Palestinian Authority and Israeli negotiators at the Annapolis gathering.

US diplomats withdrew the draft UN Security Council resolution on Saturday after Zionist officials expressed opposition.

Speaking at a press conference in Cairo on Saturday after meeting with Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak, Abbas said that a committee will meet on December 12th to discuss the 'final status issues,' including the fate of Beit Ul Mogaddas, borders, illegal Israeli settlements, and the fate of Palestinian refugees.

Abbas also said that no specific agreement had been reached on the issue of refugees expelled during what Palestinians call the 1948 Nakba, or Disaster.
More than 4.4 Palestinian refugees currently live in exile throughout the Middle East and the world.

Abbas also said he refused to declare Zionist regime a Jewish State, pointing out that both Jews and non-Jews live in Israel.
