Israel eyes short range missile defense

The Zionist regime has decided to set up a defense shield against the rockets fired by the Palestinian resistance.

The plan will cost more than 200 million dollars (140 million euros).

'Defense' Minister Ehud Barak said at a cabinet meeting Sunday that the system -- dubbed "The Iron Dome" -- would be operational within 30 months.

The Iron Dome is part of a multi-layered defence system aimed at protecting the regime from both short-range missiles and rockets fired by Palestinian activists in the Gaza Strip and longer-range missiles.

The Zionist army has been desperate to stop the nearly daily rocket fire from the Gaza Strip but to no avail.
