US fears outcome of Geneva2 talk

A senior Iranian parliamentarian says the US has kept stonewalling a prospective Geneva2 conference over the Syrian conflict because it fears the outcome might not be in its favor.

The parliament's website quoted member of the national security and foreign policy Nozar Shafiei as saying that the winning card in the Syrian conflict is in the hand of any party which proves stronger than the other party. "Any party that has more military gains may also earn more in the scene of diplomacy," he said.

The lawmaker touched on the Syrian army's recent gains in the battlefield, adding that given the conference is convened at the present time, Syria will have the upper hand. "For the same reason, the US seeks to engineer an outcome to the loss of the Syrian government," he said.

The lawmaker tied the present US willingness to delay the conference to the Syrian army's achievements o the battle ground.
