Israel ties led to Mursi ouster

An Iranian lawmaker says the ousted Egyptian president Muhammad Mursi has failed to take a grasp of the revolutionary demands of the Egyptian people.

Mojtaba Rahmandoust told Qudsna that a major cause of the current developments in the country was that the deposed president failed to take any stance against the Zionist regime and even recognized the Camp David treaty and poured all possible praises on the regime.

Member of the parliamentary committee in social affairs said Mursi not only failed to respond to the revolutionary demands of his nation, but also moved to justify them by saying that the Egyptian people have no demand for closure of ties with the regime.

Former secretary general of Iran-based Society in Defense of the Palestinian Nation (SDPN) also blamed Mursi’s failure to have a true understanding of other internal and external affairs of Egypt.

The lawmaker recounted his meeting with the Egyptian ambassador to Tehran and said the ambassador was holding that Egypt was on the verge of collapse and was only saved when the treaty with Israel was concluded.

The lawmaker noted that Mursi’s opponents are a mixture of Islamists and seculars however he is to blame for driving a wedge among his Islamist camp by taking such positions.
