Quds day in view of Lebanese figures
Several Lebanese scholars have underlined the unity of Muslims on the Palestinian issue and that Muslims must keep ran with one another in the struggle against the Zionist regime and its American and European allies.
Al-Ahd al-Akhbari has published excerpts of the views of the scholars.
Head of the board of trustees in the Lebanese Assembly of Muslim Scholars, Sheikh Ahmad Zin believes that Imam Khomeini designated a Ramadan day as day of solidarity with the Palestinian nation and the al-Aqsa mosque so that the Muslims use the spiritual atmosphere of the holy month to get united with one another.
The Lebanese personality called on all Arab and Islamic countries to meet for the common cause of struggle against Israel.
Director of Islamic Endowment in Beirut, Sheikh Hesham Khalifa said Muslims were in dire need of Imam Khomeini’s call for the international day, adding that the international occasion must turn into a pivotal issue for all Muslims.
Khalifa said Muslims must not allow their differences to influence their views on the Palestinian issue. “Muslims must point their guns at the Zionist regime,” he said.
Palestinian Mufti Sheikh Salim al-Lababidi said the internal problems of the Arab countries stem from their failure to get united with one another. He said the Muslim failure has emboldened the Zionist regime to incite discord among Muslims.
He regretted that Muslims failed to heed the Palestinian issue during the recent developments in the Arab countries.
The personality said the international day of Quds was an occasion to express disgust at the Zionists.
Head of the Palestinian Islamic Council Sheikh Namar Zaqmout said Imam Khomeini’s call was a blessed invitation, adding that every Muslim must respond to the call positively. He also said the world day was an occasion to liberate the occupied Palestine from all Zionist groups.
Friday prayers leader of the al-Quds mosque in Saida (‘Sidon’) Sheikh Maher Hamoud said the issue of Quds must turn into the mainstream issue of all Muslims and Arabs. “Individual worship would be incomplete unless it accompanies efforts to defend the Palestinian issue,” he said.
Hamoud said Quds must turn into a priority for Muslims. “Participation in the occasion is part of the general platform of resistance,” he said.
