Resistance, sole way to liberate Palestine
A Palestinian political expert says the Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza strip in 2005 showed that resistance is the sole way to counter against occupying regime of Israel.
Hassan Abdo wrote in a comment in Palestinian News that a united front of Palestinians in 2005 forced the Zionist regime’s military forces to withdraw from the Gaza Strip.
“The resistance and sacrifice of the Gazans bore fruits when the armed-to-teeth Israeli forces were forced to leave the Gaza soil in humiliation,” he said.
The expert said the withdrawal helped resistance to get momentum, adding that the military retreat helped everyone to know that the Zionist regime only understands the language of force and resistance.
The expert called the withdrawal the most significant event in the Palestinian history as the regime left a territory it once claimed to be its own.
The expert said the withdrawal heralds the full liberation of Palestine, adding that the option of resistance was a useful option in the Palestinian struggle against settlement expansion.
Abdo warned that the US is seeking to replace the option of resistance with the so-called ‘peace’ talks. He addressed the Palestinian groups, saying: “you have only two ways ahead, either to resist or prepare to surrender.”
The expert said the Zionists made many efforts to demote the Palestinian resistance, adding that the pro-resistance groups in the West Bank must keep vigilance and counter against the Israeli settlement plans.
The Zionist regime withdrew from Gaza in August 15, 2005 upon an order by the then Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon after 38 years of occupation of the territory.
