Resistance will not sit and watch US assault

A senior Islamic Jihad movement leader in Palestine says the movement would not remain idle by in case of a US attack on Syria.

Abdallah al-Shami told Qudsna that the Palestinian movement would stand robustly against any US military intervention against the Arab and Islamic umma.

The personality rejected the US motivation for an assault on Syria, saying that if the US claims to be seeking the interests of the Syrian people why it has overlooked the Zionist crimes against the Palestinian nation during the past sixty years.

“The US has no heed of the international conventions or human values. It only seeks to safeguard the safety and security of Israel,” the Palestinian leader said, adding that the movement firmly rejects the US double standard.

The Palestinian commander said all Palestinian groups and factions would stand beside Syria in case of any US attack. “Palestinian factions could not sit and watch the US targeting the heart of resistance (Syria),” he said.

The personality touched on an anti-Syrian campaign by several regional states, including Qatar and Saudi Arabia and said the only guilt of Syria was that it refused to bow to the US and Israeli demands.

The personality also warned about a US campaign to sow discord among Muslims, adding that by the malicious conspiracy, the US seeks to distract the attention of Muslim nations from Israel and the cause of Palestinian liberation.

The Palestinian leader concluded his remarks by calling on all parties to the Syrian conflict to lay down arms and start political dialogue as a way out of the current crisis.
