Israel lauds Egyptian army

Israeli military official Amos Gilad has praised Egyptian security forces' operation against 'terror' in Sinai, according to Ynet.

"For the first time, we see a determined struggle against terrorism in Egypt's Sinai, unrelated to the interests of (Israel). The operation of the Egyptians is impressive," he said during a speech at the Interdisciplinary Center Herzliya.

Gilad added, "The Egyptians now recognize Hamas as a threat and we enjoy this deterrence."

Egyptian daily Al-Youm al-Sabaa reported Sunday that "The Egyptian army continued its operations against 'terrorists' in the Sinai Peninsula Egyptian daily", quoting a military expert as saying that "the army would soon eliminate all the terrorists and armed groups."

The Egyptian army continues its campaign against the tunnels in an attempt to build a buffer zone along the Egypt-Gaza borders similar to the one created by the Israeli occupation along the eastern borders with the Gaza Strip.
