Ahmed Qurei defends Oslo agreement
Former member of the PA negotiating team Ahmed Qurei has said that the PA chief Mahmoud Abbas is ready to sign a peace deal with the Zionist regime irrespective of any Palestinian opposition, according to Akka Online.
The former negotiator made the remarks in an interview with the Israeli radio on the anniversary of the 1993 deal.
Qurei defended all previous agreements concluded with the Zionist regime, adding that the Oslo agreement was a good deal for a 5 year transition period.
Asked about the failure of the Oslo deal twenty years into its signing, the negotiator insisted the deal was never dead and that the Palestinian Authority and Israel continue their exchanges based on the deal.
Qurei said based on the bilateral exchanges, Mahmoud Abbas may take a historical decision on peace with Israel even without enquiring the Palestinian community about their opinion.
