Iran absence would disrupt Geneva2 talk

An Iranian political expert believes that all those involved in the Geneva2 talk have focused their attention to a prospective Syrian election with a view to gain a share in the poll.

Nozar shafiee told Qudsna that in the Syrian developments, the players have realized that the road to diplomacy goes through a ceasefire and a peaceful strategy.

Member of the National Security and Foreign Policy committee in the Iranian said the failure of the anti-Syrian force in the battlefield against the Syrian President Basher Assad have made the force to agree to sit the talk in Geneva.

"The opposition looks what a portion it would gain in a prospective poll. If the portion satisfies them, a mend of relations with the government is likely even before 2014," the expert said.

The expert added however that given the political portion fails to satisfy the opposition, a period of harsh conflict would follow.

The senior parliamentarian said the trend of developments in Syria particularly shifted towards military solutions when such currents as the terrorist al-Nusra group found their way into the country.

Asked about the role of the Islamic Republic in the issue, the expert said the Islamic Republic played a major role in the formation of a global approach towards a peaceful resolution of the Syrian crisis. The expert went on to say that any talk on Syria would be disrupted in the absence of Iran.

The expert said all those involved in the Syrian issue must be consulted for the resolution of the crisis, adding that the presence of Iran would help reach a breakthrough agreed by all parties.
