Hamas welcomes EU parliament's stance

Hamas spokesman has thanked the EU parliament for refusing to pay homage to the dead Israeli premier Ariel Sharon.

Taher al-Nunu, said welcomed the EU parliament's rejection of the demand by one of its member to keep a one-minute silence in homage to Sharon.

Nunu said the stance proved the international community considers Sharon and other Zionist authorities as a criminal that had committed many crimes against the Palestinian nation.

Sharon was hated for his involvement in the massacre of over 3500 Palestinians at Sabra and Shatila refugee camps in Lebanon in 1982.

Also an aide in the Hamas government, Nunu noted that though the criminal is dead now, there are many Israeli commanders who carried out his orders during the massacre are still alive and must be put on dock.
