Imam Khomeini, loyal supporter of Palestine

A former Palestinian captive says the Islamic Revolution of Iran was a turning point for the world of Islam.

Member of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad Movement Fatemeh al-Azeq made the remarks in an interview with Qudsna on the 35th anniversary of the revolution.

The female Palestinian activist said the late founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Imam Khomeini set the tone for the anti-US and anti-Israeli campaign by calling the US as great Satan and the Zionist regime of Israel as a cancerous tumor in the region.

The former Palestinian captive noted that Fat'hi Shaghaghi, the assassinated founder of the Islamic Jihad followed the thoughts of Imam Khomeini. "The late imam was the loyal supporter of the Palestinian nation," she said.

The Islamic Jihad member recalled the delivery of the then Israeli embassy in Tehran to the Palestinian nation following the victory of the Islamic revolution and said Iran has been a key supporter of the Palestinian nation from the very beginning.

The former captive was arrested in 2007 for planning to carry out a martyr bombing inside Israel and was freed in 2009 along with several other Palestinian captives in return for some information about the nabbed Israeli solider, Gilad Shalit.

The former captive gave birth to her boy, Yousef behind the israeli bars.
