Islamic Republic, key backer of Palestine

A Palestinian university professor says the victory of the Islamic Revolution of Iran helped provide the world of Islam with a model on how to secure their dignity and spiritual and material power.
Professor with the Palestinian al-Nejah University, Abd al-Satar Qasem was speaking to Qudsna on the eve of the 35th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution.
The Palestinian activist said the later father of the Islamic Revolution, Imam Khomeini used to pay a special attention to the Palestinian issue. “The Imam believed that every Muslim was religiously bound to defend the Palestine,” he said.
The professor noted that the Islamic Republic has supported the Palestinian nation since its establishment in 1979, citing the delivery of the then Israeli embassy to Palestinian activists in 1979.
Turning to the regional developments, the Palestinian analyst said the US has embarked on Shia-Sunni divide campaign so that it could undermine Iran as a major backer of the Palestinian nation and to let the Zionist regime to take a sigh of relief.
The analyst added however that the Islamic Republic has kept its track even more strongly than before.
The professor said the Islamic Republic in light of its advances in various fields can lead the world of Islam. He also noted that the Iranian perseverance in defending the Palestinian nation has consolidated its position among the Muslim populations.
