No clear prospects for PA talks

An Iranian expert in Middle East affairs says the Palestinian Authority talks with Israel faces several major problems.
For one thing, the two sides could not bring their demands into harmony, making the talks to lead to nowhere, Hassan Lasjerdi told Qudsna. The journalist said a second problem emerges from the fact that since 1990, other parties have been involved in the talks and have affected it directly.
The expert added that the US unlike its past record has sought this time to attract Israeli approval for the two-state solution while Israel never accepts a viable state next door.
The expert suggested that Israel intends to make for its failures amid the regional popular uprisings by expanding its illegal settlements across the occupied Palestinian territories. “It seeks to find an upper hand in the negations and make the west to grant concessions to Israel,” Lasjerdi said.
The expert said the talks have no clear prospects while it may be dragged for long.
