Talk for sake of talk would deliver nothing

An Iranian expert in Middle East affairs says such political negotiations as the Pa-Israel talks that are held under the US pressure and has no regard for the Palestinian rights would deliver nothing.

Hassan Hanizadeh told Qudsna that the talks ailed as expected despite the PA concessions to the Israeli side as the Israeli extremists refused to give the slightest concessions to the Palestinian side.

The expert cited several major reasons for the failure of the talks, namely the Israeli insistence for continued settlement expansion across the 1967 Palestinian lands and the Israeli insistence for receiving a formal acknowledgment from the PA side for a 'Jewish state' tag.

The expert said any acknowledgement of Israel as a Jewish state bears legal implications for the Palestinian side, including the likelihood that Israel orders 1.5 Palestinians residing in the 1948 territories to leave their land.

The expert also said the Palestinian Authority has become well aware that the talks would bear no favorable fruits for the Palestinian side and for the same reason it has decided to stop negotiations.
