Signs of true reconciliation dialogue

An Iranian expert in Middle East affairs says a genuine national reconciliation among the Palestinian groups may deliver a united front against the Zionist regime's occupation.

Hossein Kan'ani Moqaddam was answering a Qudsna question on the restoration of reconciliation talks among the Palestinian groups.

The two Palestinian movements of Fatah and Hamas have agreed to form a united government within the next five weeks. The agreement was concluded in a visit to Gaza of a delegation from the West Bank-based Fatah movement.

The expert said records of the inter-Palestinian talks signal that the internal differences among the Palestinians are largely due to the Israeli and US conspiracies.

The expert also blamed certain agents of Israel for the internal Palestinian discord, adding that certain outsider governments in the region, including the Saudi Arabia are funding the conspiracy.

The expert noted that the conspirators were also active at the moment in the Palestinian camps in Syria, Jordan and Lebanon. "They have joined hands with Takfiri groups and seek to mobilize the Palestinian refugees at the expense of their right of return and their Palestinian identity," Moqaddam said.

The expert welcomed any inter-Palestinian dialogue as a significant step especially in light of the US and Israeli plots in the region, adding however that the experts would further serve malicious US and Israeli goals if the Palestinian Authority has joined them in no good faith.

"If the Authority seeks to use the talks to present the Palestinian groups as on its side so that it could extend its compromising talks with Israel, the dialogue then would further serve the interests of the US and Zionists," the expert said.

The expert said a true national reconciliation would take place once the Palestinian groups pursue the issue of al-Quds, freedom of captives, and right of return in unison.
