PA security ties would defeat Hamas pact

Senior analyst Abdosatar Qasem says the Palestinian Authority would never stop its negotiations with Israel as there is no other option for the authority.

Qasem suggested that the current reconciliation efforts among the Palestinian groups would only put off the resumption of the talks, according to Paltoday.

The analyst says Israel since 1993 has viewed the talks as providing a green light for its settlement expansion policies and for the same reason continued talks would actually serve its interests. Qasem says the same was true for the US that sees its interests further served through continued talks.

The analyst also noted that no genuine reconciliation may take place amid the current PA security coordination with Israel.

The expert reminded a national consensus government years ago that broke apart due to the PA failure to abandon its security collaboration with the Zionist regime.
