Hamas-Fatah agreement is shaky
Sa'adollah Zare'i told Qudsna that both the government in Gaza and its rival in the West Bank have continued to run for at least two years more than their legitimate period.
"Lack of legitimacy in the absence of any election has dragged the two sides to negotiations table," the expert said.
The expert also believed that there are little chances that the talks would succeed due to deep differences among the two groups.
"Fatah and Hamas exercise two distinct approaches. Hamas underlines resistance and not to recognize the Zionist regime while the Fatah runs on the track of recognition," the expert, said, adding that should Hamas accepts the Fatah approach under a unity government, it would lose its legitimacy among the Palestinian people.
The expert said the recent agreement between the two sides only covers general issues however history shows the two sides may face hurdles in formulating the details.
