Zionists taken off guard by Hamas response
Zionist analysts admit it has become very difficult to hit the Palestinian rocket launchers in Gaza, adding that there are opportunities for making a truce with the Palestinian side, Arab48 website wrote, noting the Israeli position has been unprecedented in any previous assault oh Gaza.
The Israeli analysts held that Hamas in Gaza has grown weak and seeks an escape from the perceived conditions so they were taken off guard by the intensity of Hamas reaction to the Israeli attacks.
The Arab48 quoted the analysts as speculating that the siege and the closure of the Egyptian crossing into Gaza would push Hamas to seek a truce, but they were wrong.
The website quoted an Israeli military analyst Amos Harilas telling the Haaretz daily that though having been strangled in a strategic imbroglio, the direction of conflict is effectively determined by Hamas at present.
The analyst admitted that over 3 million Israelis have taken shelter in fear of the Palestinian rockets.
Haril acknowledged that Hamas had no role in the abduction of three Israeli settlers, adding that Israel was pushed to the conflict.
He said it is not clear when the conflict would come to an end as there is no perceived way of exit from the conflict and, at the same time, Egypt seems not ready for brokering a truce.
