World must counter Israel

Spokeswoman of Iran's Foreign Ministry, Marzieh Afkham says the US government has suffered miscalculations in offering all-out support to the Zionist regime of Israel.

The senior diplomat made the remarks in a news conference in Tehran.

The spokeswoman rejected the recent anti-Iranian remarks by certain US authorities and said the country has ignored the realities on the ground in the region.

Afkham said the Zionist regime has actually built up a large prison for the Palestinians and the US government supports the prison guard in contravention of the regional realities.

The spokeswoman said the Zionist regime was a law breaching regime that must be countered by the international community.

Turning to developments in Lebanon, the spokeswoman said Iran has informed the Lebanese authorities of its readiness to help counter terrorist groups in the country.
