Ban seeks to fix UN position in Gaza

An Iranian analyst in Middle East affairs says the UN Director General Ban Ki Moon's visit to Gaza is a show aimed at improving the status of the UN.

Hassan Hanizadeh told Qudsna that Ban aimed to fix the position of the UN in the world public opinion after it marred its status by adopting a passive position towards the recent genocidal war on Gaza.

Hanizadeh said the UN failure even to take any action against the Israeli attack on the UN's own centers showed how the international body has turned into a paralyzed and ineffective institution.

"And, Ban himself is the weakest director general in the UN history," he added.

The expert said the UN has lost its popularity among the Gaza people and Ban seeks to fix the situation.
