Poetry event on Palestinian intifada

A national poetry event on the Palestinian intifada (uprising) was held in Tehran in the presence of a community of poets called Periskeh-sorayan.

Political and social personalities were also present in the gathering that was co-organized by the Quds News Agency and the Periskeh poetical association.

Selected works on the Palestinian resistance were read out in the one-day event with top works set to be awarded.

In the meantime, a number of personalities delivered lectures on the effect of poetry on the Palestinian resistance.

Representative of the Palestinian Resistance Movement, Hamas in Tehran said poetry runs as a vehicle for civilizations and cultures, adding that the Palestinian intifada enjoys its own poetical school of thought.

Turning to the Palestinian developments, the Hamas figure said the Palestinian revolution was put straight following the emergence of the Islamic resistance.

Qaddoumi said the historical pre-1948 Palestine must be entirely liberated, adding that the occupied al-Quds is a red line for the movement and would never allow it to become a bargaining chip in any negotiations.

The Hamas representative said the Palestinian nation will keep resisting by any means.

Qaddoumi touched on the call by the Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei for giving arms to the West Bank populations and said the call paved the way for a strategic conflict with the Zionist regime.

The Hamas representative then urged the Palestinians to get united against Israel.

Qaddoumi said the Palestinian issue has served as a unifying issue for the Muslim community, adding that the west has targeted the Palestinian unity.

The Hamas representative then rejected the US claims in the fight against terror groups in the region, adding that terrorists are primarily the US government and Zionist regime.

Representative of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad Movement, Naser Abu Sharif said poetry may serve as a useful tool for attracting the public attention of the Palestinian issue.

The Palestinian figure added that poetry may also provide a solid record of developments for the posterity.

The Islamic Jihad personality said the Zionist enemy sought to present the Palestinian resistance as a terror current but to no avail due to the effect of the pro-resistance poetry.

"Pro-resistance poetry helped present the Palestinian resistance as one of the most significant civil and human phenomenon," Abu Sharif said.

The Islamic Jihad representative said the Zionist regime and their allies perceived the Palestinian nation would suffer the same fate as the Indians in the United States however the nation continued to live through poetry.

A prominent Iranian lawmaker, Mojtaba Rahmandoust appreciated the pro-resistance poets in a poetical event on the Palestinian intifada that was attended by members of an Iranian poetry association called Periskeh Sorayan in Tehran.

Turning to the Palestinian developments, the lawmaker said Israel growingly loses its safety due to the Islamic Revolution in Iran.

The lawmaker touched on the call by the Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei for giving arms to the West Bank populations and said the call has further unleashed crises through the Zionist regime.

Rahmandoust said the Palestinian issue currently serves as a yardstick for discriminating followers of the truth and followers of the falsehood.

Member of the Iranian System Interests Council, Mohammad Akhbari said the new Palestinian intifada may achieve its goals if time and venue of developments are managed.

Akhbari said the Palestinian resistance will eventually got victory, adding advocates of the intifada may expedite its victory by tackling soft threats facing the Palestinian campaign.

The politician elaborated that the western governments are seeking to buy time for their efforts to remove the threat of a new intifada. Akhbari added that the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's declaration of the Jewish State Law is another effort in the same line.

Akhbari said the third Palestinian Intifada would find a larger maneuvering space by supplying the West Bank populations with weapons so that they could counter the Zionist regime's aggressions.

The politician said the internal conflict in Israel has provided an opportunity for the third intifada.

And, Director of the media committee in the poetry event, Sirous Shirzad said literature has no boundaries and for the same reason, literary works may leave deep effect on any audience worldwide.

The media activist said any free men in the world would advocate and identify themselves with pro-resistance poetry and literature.

The media director said the era of globalization is the era of a conflict between media, adding that the modern media are virtually serving the global hegemony.

Shirzad regretted that the media have remained in the grip of the world superpowers and that the UN and other international bodies have failed to do anything to restore the Palestinian rights.

The media activist said the Muslim media must counter the enemy campaigns, adding that the Quds News Agency (Qudsna) serves to meet the goal as a specialized media on the Palestinian issue.

Shirzad said the poetical event aims to convey a message of solidarity to the Palestinian resistance fighters and that the Iranian people, especially their artists are advocating the innocent Palestinian nation.

Qudsna managing director has offered to publish the proceedings of the event in a volume, Shirzad said.
