PA's failed plan facing political dead-end

An Iranian political expert says the PA Chief Mahmoud Abbas's move to table a draft Palestinian State resolution in the UN Security Council means to test an already failed solution and shows that Abbas actually seeks to justify his position rather than resolving the Palestinian issue.

Hossein Rouyvaran told Qudsna that Abbas's three-stage plan for the withdrawal of the Israeli forces from the West Bank shows that Abbas seeks to restore hope in his political circle one way or another.

The expert said the PA authorities are well aware the draft resolution would be vetoed by the US government as the country never allows any move that goes without the Israeli consultation.

Rouyvaran said the US would never allow Israel be placed under the pressure of any timeframe and for the same reason the draft resolution is doomed to fail.

The expert noted that while resistance could push Israel from Lebanon and Gaza, diplomacy has failed to bear any results, adding the PA insistence on diplomacy shows they are not looking for a resolution of the Palestinian crisis and rather seek to justify their position.
