Israel worried about Turkey-Hamas ties

A Turkish professor says the Palestinian Hamas movement has a significant position in Palestine and for the same reason any relations between Turkey and the movement would worry Israel and its western allies.

Professor with the Sabanci University, Sema Kalaycioglu was speaking to Qudsna.

The Turkish figure said the Hamas movement found a better status after the western governments started to recognize Palestine as an independent state.

The Turkish professor also noted that Turkey equally holds ties with Hamas and Fatah, adding that the two parties must unite if they wish to have an independent and integrated country.

Touching on the growing isolation of Israel in the international community, the university professor said Israel feels isolated in political and social arenas and to mend the situation it seeks to set up trade exchanges with Cyprus, Greece and Egypt.
