US seeks more concessions from PA

An Iranian media activist says the US government has rejected the PA bid for ending the Israeli occupation and forming a Palestinian state as it seeks to extract more concessions from the Authority in favor of Israel before giving any concession to the Palestinian side.

Arash Khalil Khaneh also Qudsna that the US government has already backed the bid to form a Palestinian state however it insists such bids must be carried out through negotiations between the PA and Israel.

"The US authorities consider it debilitative to their and Israeli interests to allow the bid to be tabled in the UN. Actually, they think the bid would close the way for extracting more concessions from the PA in favor of the Zionist regime," he added.

The expert also cited the US concerns about the Palestinian resistance groups as another motive for rejecting the PA bid. "The US wishes to see any statehood bid guaranteeing the agreement of all Palestinian groups and to see the groups dissolved within the prospective state," Khalil Khaneh said, adding that the US is especially worried about the stance of Hamas.

The expert said the US seeks to see the resistance groups laying down their arms so that the Zionists and its supporters gain full calm in terms of military issues.
