Hezbollah met int’l norms in tit-for-tat raid

An Iranian expert in regional affairs says Hezbollah has observed the existing international norms when carrying out its retaliatory attack against Israel in the Shebaa farms on Wednesday.

Seyyed Hadi Seyyed Afqahi also said said Hezbollah had already taken the initiative from Israel on the ground so that the Zionist regime no longer could embark on any military act without being exposed to its repercussions, according to the Qods News Agency.

Seyyed Afqahi argued that the Shebaa farms are considered an Israeli-occupied area by the international bodies and therefore, Hezbollah may justify the attack as it hit an occupier from its own land.

The Iranian expert also noted that Israel was taken off-guard as it expected the Lebanese Islamic Resistance Movement to embark on a reprisal from the Golan Heights from where it had launched a missile attack on a Hezbollah convoy in Syria.

A couple of days ago, Israel killed six members of Hezbollah and a senior Iranian commander in a missile attack on their convoy when they were chasing a line of al-Nusra terror operatives in the Qunaitara region in Syria close to the Golan Heights.

Afqahi believed that neither the UN nor any other international bodies may accept any Israeli complaint about the retaliatory attack as it took place from a ground that is considered as occupied in international statutes.

Interview by the IRIB, the expert also opined that the Wednesday attack on the Israeli forces was never the last response on the part of Hezbollah, adding that Hezbollah has likely decided to draw Israel into a conflict of attrition so as to teach the regime to think twice about possible repercussions before committing the likes of missile attacks it did in the Qunaitara region.
