IRI changed regional balance of power
Former Iranian ambassador to Lebanon, Qazanfar Roknabadi says the Islamic Republic of Iran replaced Egypt in the anti-Israeli regional force of resistance one year after the then regime of Anwar Sadat quitted the force by recognizing Israel.
The senior diplomat was speaking to the Qods News Agency a few days ahead of the 36th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran in 1979.
The expert said the Egyptian withdrawal as the stronghold of the anti-Israeli force prompted the western governments to fan frustration among Arabs over the Palestinian issue and to peddle the idea that there is no option but to compromise with the fabricated entity of Israel.
Roknabadi said the emergence of the Islamic Republic however reversed the trend and imbued the regional nations, especially the Lebanese and Palestinian groups with a renewed spirit of anti-Israeli resistance.
The expert believed that the Palestinian resistance groups were born in a direct modeling of the Islamic Revolution, adding that the Islamic Revolution of Iran changed the balance of power in favor of the anti-Israeli force.
