1979 revolution granted Palestinian issue a new identity
An Iranian politician says 1979 Islamic Revolution in Iran granted a new identity to the Palestinian nation's resistance, turning it into a burgeoning, Islamic resistance from a nationalistic, disillusioned combat.
Senior official in Iran's Motalefeh party, Hamid Reza Taraqi was speaking to the Qods News Agency few days ahead of the 36th anniversary of the landmark revolution.
Taraqi said the Islamic Revolution helped create a sense of confidence in the Palestinian people and paved the way for their back to back achievements in their anti-Israeli campaign.
As for the effect of the 1979 revolution on the Palestinian issue, the politician said the Palestinians who once only had rocks at hand to pelt at Israel are now in hold of rockets.
"Also, the Israeli ambition of Nile-to-Euphrates government has been tailored and confined to an already-insecure 1948-occupied Palestine," Taraqi added.
Also a former parliament member, Taraqi touched on the late Imam Khomeini's view of Israel as a cancerous tumor and said the late imam's anti-Israeli campaign prevented the critical phenomenon from being spread into other areas in the world of Islam.
"The Zionist regime has denigrated into a vulnerable power from its earlier position as the first military force in the region," the politician said, adding the Zionist army no longer could overcome the regional resistance groups.
The politician said the trend of the Israeli denigration has took momentum during the tenure of the serving Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
