Impact of Iran deal on region
Palestinian analyst Naser al-Leham says the Iranian nuclear agreement with the West clearly constitutes a victory for the Islamic Republic as it would help free Iran from the burden of sanctions.
The analyst added however that the west too gained a success through the conclusion of the agreement.
The analyst went on to say that the agreement was concluded between Iran and six major countries while six small countries were happier at its conclusion, namely Iraq, Syria, Leabon, Yemen, Sudan and Palestine (Gaza) “as they hope their internal affairs would be resolved following the agreement.”
The analyst argued that the countries are allies of Iran and for the same reason they hope the agreement would help them to exit isolation.
The analyst said the status of Iran’s neighbor, Turkey faces a complex situation as it has failed to meet its political objectives in the past few years.
“Turkey neighed has materialized an emperor it sought to establish, not it could develop cordial ties with the regional countries, nor it could establish a good alliance with the west. Turkey has even failed to join the European Union,” the Palestinian analyst wrote in Maan, adding Turkey’s position following the Iranian nuclear agreement is similar to a girl who has been forced to marry by his father and should accept the awkward conditions.
As for the Persian Gulf littoral states, the analyst said the Arab states feel frustrated as they have been cheated by the US into attacking Yemen.
“Their war on Yemen was neither decisive nor determining despite what they called it,” the analyst said, adding those countries which have made lucrative weapons sales agreements to the Arab states would have to leave either in frustration if the Arab states stop the war on Yemen.
Leham also had a note for the Palestinians. “In Ramallah however everyone says we must use the experience of Iran’s talks with the great Satan (US) and prepare for talks with the smaller Staan (Israel).”
