6th conference on 2008 Gaza resistance

A sixth gathering on the perseverance of the Palestinian people in the besieged Gaza was held in Tehran on Wednesday with the IRGC Commander, General Mohammad Ali Jafari on attendance.

Entitled ‘Gaza, symbol of resistance,’ the gathering has been co-organized by the Society in Defense of the Palestinian Nation (SDPN) and the Qods News Agency (Qodsna).

During the session, IRGC Commander, General Mohammad Ali Jafari said the anti-occupation and anti-arrogance resistance will expand in the region despite conspiracies by the US and its allies.

General Jafari touched on the Gaza perseverance against the invading Israeli forces in 2008 and said the sort of resistance has already been expanded across the region and will grow further until the entire regional nations are freed from the arrogance’s yoke.

Jafari said the Gaza resistance was exceptional, adding the small area enjoys a faithful and robust population that stood against a head-to-toe armed regime in a 22-day war.

“The people proved to the world that one could stand against the enemies’ pressure whatsoever,” the general said.

The general predicted that the regional resistance will remain steadfast in place until the freedom of the occupied al-Quds (‘Jerusalem’) is secured.

Also, Representative of the Islamic Jihad movement in Tehran, Naser Abu Sharif said Arab states have conditioned their vows for reconstruction of Gaza to Palestinians leaving their armed resistance against the occupiers.

Abu Sharif said despite many vows for Gaza reconstruction, the promises have yet to be met following the destructive 51-day genocidal war on the besieged Gaza.

The Palestinian authority said in the past Gregorian year, Rafah crossing to Gaza was only open for 21 days and the Gaza population was detained in the largest world prison for the rests of the world.

“The problem rose after Arabs conditioned any reconstruction to leaving of arms,” he said, adding however that the Palestinians have hold fast to their principles despite all such problems and shortcomings.

Turning to the anti-occupation intifada in the occupied West Bank, the Palestinian representative said the intifada was largely led by under-20 Palestinians who have grown up under the Oslo accord.

Next, Hamas representative in Tehran Khaled Qaddoumi said Palestinians in the besieged Gaza are punished by Israel over their choice of resistance against the occupying regime.

“Be sure we Palestinians will stand,” he said however.

The Hamas representative also blasted the international community for its failure to meet its vows to Gaza.

As for the ongoing anti-occupation activism in the occupied West Bank, Qaddoumi said with 100 days into the intifada, over 260 Palestinians have been murdered and over 100 Palestinian homes have been demolished however the Palestinians have grown more steadfast than before.

And, Member of the Iran-based pro-Palestinian society, SDPN Mohammad Hassan Rahimian said the Palestinian resistance in Gaza should be recorded in history as a bright point.

Rahimian touched on the Israeli genocidal war on Gaza in 2008 and said Israel despite all its capacities could not make inroads into Gaza. “That was wonderful,” he said of the Gaza resistance.

Rahimian said the Gaza resistance has lessons for all Muslims worldwide, adding the ongoing anti-occupation activism in the occupied West Bank was a fruit of the 2008 resistance.
