If only Palestinians commanded a leader like Imam Khomeini
The Islamic Revolution of Iran, a 37th anniversary of the victory of which was marked Thursday, features certain similarities with the Palestinian nation's movement against the Israeli occupation.
First of all it features a massive presence of people from different walks of life and second it advances its goals with almost empty hands while being motivated by a robust faith.
The Palestinian national movement however suffers lack of a smart, savvy leader like the late father of the Islamic Revolution, Imam Khomeini who can convene the Palestinians round a single anti-occupation cause irrespective of their existing differences.
In certain parts of the Palestinian history, some leaders shined including Sheikh Ezzedin Qassam and Sheikh Ahmad Yassin however they failed to develop a general popularity.
A reason behind the delay in the victory of the Palestinian movement is the lack of a leader who enjoys necessary political and religious knowledge as well as popularity so as to mobilize the entire public against the occupation.
The suffering probably pushed certain Palestinian factions to make strategic mistakes on certain political junctures including during the Muslim Brotherhood's coming to power in Egypt and the Syrian crisis and got entrapped with a Zionist conspiracy that was in place since long ago.
The Palestinian revolution may get closer to victory once it overcomes the problem of leadership.
